The awards
This image, titled Evolutionary Momentum, was commissioned by PwC and has been created specially for the techMARK Awards Dinner, now in its sixth year. The image was created by Christopher Ekins, a third year student at Central St Martins, the internationally renowned college which offers one of the most diverse and comprehensive ranges of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts and design in the UK.
Evolutionary Momentum is an imperative built into all living organisms; it is the force of progress, of infinite age. Technological development is Evolution made manifest through the human experience, from the first gigantic computers through to the current lap-top.
Unlike other organisms, humans build communities and evolve ways of bettering the individuals within those constructs. This image, Evolutionary Momentum, explores the interactions and intersections that we occupy. The combination of a digital process combining the objects, forms and structures that enable, aid and contract the exploration of our differences and allow us to celebrate our achievements and our similarities.
